Dr L H Hiranandani Hospital is a 240 bedded multispeciality, tertiary and quaternary care hospital. It is the Mumbai’s first NABH accredited hospital. It is also the winner of Ramkrishna Bajaj National Quality Award and the International Asia Pacific Quality Award for Healthcare. Today, our hospital is on the same platform as the leading hospitals in the country and we have done this in 8 years.
We commissioned in the year 2004 and by the year 2009 we were feeling the strain on the infrastructure and had to increase not only the beds but add on medical equipment and change the existing medical equipment for the latest models. We added radiation oncology, bone marrow transplant, dental centre, a new executive health check area, sports medicine and a new physiotherapy department, revamped the entire operation theatre medical equipment and the monitoring systems in the ICU with equipments launched by the world’s leading manufacturers of 2010 vintage.
Even the rooms are focused on patient safety and all rooms of the hospital are directly linked to the nursing station for patient monitoring and to the ICU. The hospital is also equipped with an advanced voice interactive nurse call systems that can actually call a nurse from different floor, should an emergency arise. Antibiotic policies are in place and so are infection control policies. Our hospital follows strict guidelines of International Nosocomial Infection Control Consortium to control hospital related infections. We have only bettered their standards recommend for hospital by laying down rigid protocols.

The hospital has an internal fire safety and flood management plan. Regular drill for fire safety and hospital evacuation are performed. The hospital does not have the inherent capability of sending medical teams to disaster areas to manage. We however, enjoin such teams with staff & medicines as support services. The hospital has participated with the state government’s medical camp at Saki Naka during the floods that devastated Mumbai in 2005. The hospital was also the sanctuary site for all those who were stranded in the region of Powai. They found here shelter, hot food and bunk bedding!

Projects
After completing the Dr L H Hiranandani Hospital, the team also forged and successfully executed the first Public Private Partnership to remodel and design a multispecialty tertiary care hospital for Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation. The group is now engaged in constructing a 200 bedded multispecialty superspecialty hospital at Thane. Expansion of Dr L H Hiranandani Hospital was also a technical, architectural and constitutional challenge and we overcame it. Arguably this is the first of its kind in the world where a hospital was constructed over an existing fully operational hospital and that to without suspending a day operation!
